BankVic will retire its automated telephone banking service on 30 November 2024. Transition to our secure and convenient internet banking and mobile app. Learn more about the change and alternative banking options.

Retirement of telephone banking service

Effective from 6:00pm on 27 November 2024, BankVic will no longer offer phone banking facilities.

Our automated telephone banking service is being retired

At 6pm on 27 November, BankVic’s automated self-service telephone banking is being retired and will no longer be available. This decision has been made for a number of reasons, including the discontinuation of vendor support for phone banking services and the availability of more secure, user-friendly online alternatives.

While we've explored alternatives, none fully replicate the existing telephone banking service.

Why this change is happening

  1. The telephone banking platform has been decommissioned.

Demand for automated self-service telephone banking has steadily decreased over time. This is reflected across banking more broadly, to the extent that the technology vendor has decommissioned the platform we use and will no longer support it beyond the end of November.

  2. Member preferences and convenience.

The vast majority of our members already take advantage of the ease and convenience of the BankVic app and Internet Banking. Telephone banking is considered a ‘legacy’ platform, and its usage is significantly less than our online options.

  3. Better security.

Internet banking and the BankVic app offer greater and more secure authentication and encryption, which reduces the risk of someone accessing your accounts without unique authorisation.

What this means for you

From 6pm on 27 November, our automated telephone banking service is being switched off and will no longer be available.

You will be able to continue doing all the things you once did via telephone banking through internet banking, the BankVic app or by visiting one of our branches.

And as always, we’re available to help members with more complex banking needs over the phone and in our branches.

FAQs

  • Our phone banking services effective from 30 November 2024 for several reasons:

    1. The phone banking platform has been decommissioned.

Demand for automated self-service phone banking has steadily decreased over time. This is reflected across banking more broadly, to the extent that the technology vendor has decommissioned the platform we use and will no longer support it beyond the end of November. While we’ve investigated alternatives, there aren’t any suitable options available that will replicate the existing phone banking service.

    2. Member preferences and convenience.

The majority of our members already benefit from the ease and convenience of the BankVic app and internet banking. In comparison, phone banking sees significantly lower usage than our online banking options.

    3. Better security.

Internet banking and the BankVic app offer greater and more secure authentication and encryption, which reduces the risk of someone accessing your accounts without unique authorisation.

  • You can now manage your accounts through:
